Mono County Libraries participated in The Big Read during May 2008. We read Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451. In conjunction with the Mammoth Lakes Friends of the Library, we held a number of events, contests, and group discussions at our new Mammoth Lakes Branch Library at 400 Sierra Park Road, Mammoth Lakes, California. Chalk artists warmed up the opening with drawings of firefighters and books on fire. Unfortunately, snow arrived and the real firefighters weren't able to come put out the flames. Photos from the Opening All events have been completed. Photos of contest winners are linked from the Contests page. The Felici Trio entertained all library patrons at the closing event.View the full calendar. More information about The Big Read, a nation-wide literacy project can be found at www.neabigread.org.
